Today’s interactive world provides great opportunities and challenges for your students. As educators technology plays a greater role in all aspects of learning. Research has shown that by Fourth Grade the internet habits of our students have been solidly established. Our challenge as educators is to help shape our students use of technology in a safe and ethical manner.
The Initiative has identified this as a primary challenge. The goal is to integrate cyber safety and ethics into the current curriculum and to provide options for educators to become more knowledgeable on the technology and the risks that our students face today.
We have partnered with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children to deliver the Netsmartz internet safety training to local educators.
NetSmartz offers interactive training materials for educators to use in their classrooms, accumulate more information about Internet safety and technology, and take steps to bring their classrooms into the 21st century.
