The Rochester Regional Cyber, Security and Ethics Initiative is a unique
non-profit partnership between the Rochester Institute of Technology
(RIT), numerous area school districts, the Archdiocese of Rochester
Department of Catholic Schools, other higher education institutions and
private schools, and regional offices of three national organizations,
including:
- The
National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC)
-
Information Systems Security Association (ISSA)
-
InfraGard Member Alliance (IMA of Rochester), a program of the
Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
Funding
for the Initiative is been largely donated time and services from local
organizations since its inception in early 2006. To improve cyber
safety, security and ethics at the K-12 level, as well as for teachers,
parents, employers and other members of the community funding is
necessary. The comprehensive research program requires a minimal
commitment of $2,000 per school district to fund development of the
research survey, train districts, conduct analysis of results and
deliver reports.
